In my coaching session with the client the client expressed a want to own a SUV but immediately continued to say that there is a lack of money.

The client however was clear about the brand and the model of the SUV so I asked the client to visualise a little more about the SUV.

The client spoke about seeing it in the showroom for the first time listening to the features being explained by the showroom executive Beginning first with the exteriors the design about the looks and then opened the door the fresh smell of the car for the freshener the client sitting in the front seat getting the feel of comfort of the seat the adjustment the inclination the armrest everything felt good. Sitting in the rare seat feeling the headspace the leg space and the space to even move around. All this was not explained in a flow rather I had to keep prompting saying and … and …again and again.

This whole thing, we realise was narrated based on facts, based on the real experience and this was a recollection from memory. There was no visualisation.

The question now is why was there no real visualisation.

The answer to this is because of thinking of the HOW. This is the show stopper, it pushes away the want, it rules out any possibility. It appeared as if ‘the want got over as soon as it began’.

So don’t let the HOW stop you.

Unless the HOW is kept aside there is no Visualization taking place.

A Visualization is using all the senses of Sight, Touch, Smell, Hearing and Taste.

Visualize that the SUV is in front of your house, you are seeing it, walking around it seeing the colour, the design, the view from different sides.

Visualize that you have the key in your hand, you touching the SUV, opening the door, Sitting in the front seat, Feeling the steering of the SUV in your hands adjusting your seat I’m making yourself comfortable.

Visualise getting the fragrance of the perfume in the car it’s your favourite perfume and you take a deep breath and inhale this beautiful fragrance

Visualise that you’re driving the SUV I’m going to your favourite destination, With your loved ones. Visualise listening to your favourite music listening to all the fun and the laughter from your near and dear ones.

Visualise munching on some snacks as you’re driving along. A simple way of engaging all the senses to make the visualisation more effective. This is a simple way of making the visualisation more effective by using all the five senses.

Thoughts comes and goes and so do many of our wants. These wants are like fleeting clouds that goes out of shape and out of sight quickly.

So here are a few tips to make this process possible

1.      Have clarity about the want. Write it.

2.      Make the want into a desire. Gather information and details, images, etc.

3.      Make a Committed Decision. The critical element in this process.

4.      Visualize frequently – Imagine the future as if it is happening now.

5.      Keep the Desire alive with Images on the Vision Board/Vision Book, Desktop/Mobile Screensaver.

We often falter when we do not have clarity, but once we are clear, we are able decide, make a commitment to ourself.

Look back – whenever we had clarity and took a committed decision, we were able to take action and achieve what we set out to do. Aim to make a Committed Decision.

Our wants evolve from the 5 senses but before it can become a Burning Desire, the conscious mind raises the question - HOW.

Don’t let the HOW stop you. Instead use the above process and activate the subconscious mind.

The subconscious mind now does not know the difference between imagination and reality as the visualization is repeated. The subconscious mind now works in collaboration with the conscious mind.

The conscious mind begins using the same 5 senses, it keeps looking at the opportunities that turn up and creates the possibilities to make the desire a reality.

Reality is Committed Decision plus Visualisation.
